I come to yoga from a place of injury. After a car accident at thirteen, my body and mind both felt like they were not my own. I hated yoga when I was first introduced but quickly realized that it all depends on who you study with. I took my original Teacher Training course to deepen my practice, come home to my body, and learn to quiet my mind's anxiety. Studying the parasympathetic nervous system, an individualized approach to asana, and the power of touch made me want to be a yoga teacher. I bring all these elements to my work still and have continued in these particular directions through Yin Yoga and Trauma Sensitive Yoga.
I am a firm believer that there is no cookie-cutter, perfect therapy or yoga or asana alignment. Healing needs to look like you and your particular needs. No two bodies are alike and we each deserve to feel at home in ours - getting there should be tailored to each individual's needs. As practitioners this allows us the creative, empathic opportunity to show up for our clients/students and meet you exactly where you are in your journey.
Sessions take place at your pace with a focus of bringing more space and ease to your body and mind. Yin Yoga is a passive but challenging practice that explores opening the connective tissue and fascia of the body to add circulation, flexibility and mobility. It involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes. We will move slowly, breathe deeply, and take it one breakthrough at a time.
